Inside out versus outside in

There is a commonly accepted principal that one should work from the inside out, and that the body is on the outside and the mind is inside. But this is very misleading.

It is not a question of working from the inside out or from the outside in, because, as modern brain research seems to demonstrate, there is no “inner” inside, no locatable subconscious. The body and the better part of the brain is both the inside and the outside, while the conscious self, which can be located as a specific activity of the brain, is just a small window sitting on top, desperately trying to scan, filter and control the vast quantities of information being processed by the subconscious!
